An old traditional Lithuanian bread made with organic flour and natural leaveners. The recipe was kept secret by the famous cook and singer Petronele Kuruliene, born in 1924 in Nibragalis village. Petronele brought to our baker her bread baking secret together with the leavener which was passed for a long time from generation to generation. The bread was called after Petronele to honour her.
Made with organic coarse rye flour, natural matured rye sourdough and caraway seeds, baked on a bed of sweet flag herbs.
Leavened in oak bread tubs, kneaded by hand until the dough no longer sticks to the hands, then steamed with fresh water and cooked in a stone oven.
How to store it: ideally in a wooden or clay box, but a metal or plastic box will do.
